Random Fun

This is a picture I took last year when I went to the Lavender Festival in Blanco (Texas Hill Country). This pink tractor stood out so sweet and pretty, I just had to take a picture. At this farm they they had lavender with an adorable shop with a large variety of lavender products, luscious fruit and vegies, homemade peach ice cream, and assorted gourmet food products.
I mention all this because it is close to the time of the yearly festival! It is June 11-13. If you love the Hill Country, lavender, flowers, gardening, scenic drives, quality arts and hand-made crafts and really great food and shopping...you need to try to go! Or at least put it on you "Bucket" list. I'm not kidding.

Kitchen Table

This little spot makes me smile! I realize from this that I am going to have to re-take my pictures so I can make you smile too. With laundry piled up and a yard that needs a lot of work, a floor to mop, grocery shopping, errands to run, dinner to cook, daughter coming home to work on wedding "save the date" cards, and two plants to pot, my day will be gone. My life is bigger than I am right now! I think I need to remind myself that all is well and everything that needs to be done, will get done.

Simple Beauty

The wildflower season is soooo spectacular to me! I wish these precious blooms could last longer. They make me feel that all is well in the world. Their spontaneous appearance every year is evidence of "nature" at its' best. I think spring is special for most of us because we are like flowers too. I thank God for the seasons and how each one of them inspire and direct us with inspiration and creativity. Try to take time to enjoy it before it has faded away.

Quickie

I have to run out the door real soon but I wanted to put this up. I found this old piece of metal one day junking with Mollie. I have no idea what it use to be, maybe an early day utensil holder? Anyway I bought it like I often do and decide later what I'll do with it. I decided it would be fun as a little mobile to display some of my smaller treasures and things I make. It is amazing how objects take on a life of their own and lead me to it's purpose. I love being inspired by other peoples discarded objects and making something different from them. Keep your eyes open ...you never know when you will see a new inspiration!

Potpourri

This is not a very good picture. I need more practice! This is a view beside my kitchen sink that I see every morning as a drink coffee. I really have a strange affinity for birds. They feel like kindred spirits. Weird huh? Anyway I have alot of different ones in my kitchen. One of my favorite pieces is the little spice cabinet. It belonged to my great-grandmother given to me by my grandmother. She was a very special woman to me and I miss her. She had a powerful influence on me in that I learned much from her and she love me unconditionally. I am blessed!

One more thing...

I want to learn to do is use my Cricut machine. It is a little more complicated than I thought. There are so many options and applications. Creative options are almost endless. I really like it so far. I was trying to teach myself some things last week and made this. It turned out worthy of framing and I put it on the shabby mantel in my kitchen.

WENT SHOPPING

My friend Sheree and I went to Canton Thursday. Perfect day! Most normal women go all over Canton, but not us. We had a specific destination. Laurie Anna's Vintage Home in Arbor 2 and her yellow house further down 19 was all we cared about shopping. She has our taste and desire for home decor in abundance in her shop. We were in creative heaven. The hard part is choosing what to buy with our limited funds. We did great and left tickled pink with what we found. I have been slowly filling this trellis hanging in my kitchen with things I love. They are not in this picture yet but will be soon and I"ll update then. We were excited to meet Laurie, Tina (Cherry Hill Cottage blog) and Monica (her home is on Tina's blog alot). It was like meeting movie stars LOL. They are truly talented women and it was fun to meet them in person. We will go back soon and I highly suggest you go check it out too!
